  1.                         MISCELLANEOUS COMMANDS

  3. <DATE> inserts today's date at the current cursor position.
  4.  
  5. <REDRAW  SCREEN> clears the screen and draws a new copy of the text on
  6. the screen. This is useful if you  are  not  sure  of  what's  on  the
  7. screen,  or  if funny characters appear on your screen due to noise on
  8. communication lines.
  9.  
  10. <STATUS LINE> toggles between the  two  types  of  status  lines.  The
  11. default  status  line  shows  the  row, column, number of lines, mode,
  12. current format block, and current file name.  The  ruler  status  line
  13. looks like the tab line in the format menu.
  14.  
  15. <SHELL>  allows you to execute an operating system command from within
  16. the word processor. Type the command, followed by  <RETURN>,  and  the
  17. command  will  be executed. After the command is finished, you will be
  18. brought back to your editing screen. In DOS, you can invoke a  second-
  19. ary  command  processor by typing "command". You will then "leave" the
  20. word processor, and you can interact with DOS. When you want to return
  21. to the editing session, type the DOS command "exit".
